Billy Goffyn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 4th minute, Camiel Vissenaekens fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Rudi Ronsman, passed just outside the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timmy Van Linthoud in the 8th minute of play forced Wijnegem's goalkeeper Nicolaas Snieders to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Camiel Vissenaekens's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rudi Ronsman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Billy Goffyn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of KFC Meelberg booed when Wijnegem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven Lieckens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Corneel Vuerinx fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolaas Snieders having to interfere. Nicolaas Snieders took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Corneel Vuerinx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Wijnegem's zone, Corneel Vuerinx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicolaas Snieders came out of the goal and Corneel Vuerinx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 31 minutes into the game, Hugo Van De Wyngaert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. KFC Meelberg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wijnegem the free kick. After 31 played minutes KFC Meelberg got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Van De Wyngaert. Camiel Vissenaekens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. KFC Meelberg's Rudi Ronsman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camiel Vissenaekens in the 38th minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Wijnegem's goal looked a bit too open when Timmy Van Linthoud came free, but Nicolaas Snieders reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Corneel Vuerinx sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Timmy Van Linthoud stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Willem-Alexander De Vlaeminck lost his temper 51 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 51st minute, one of KFC Meelberg:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for KFC Meelberg. After a defensive mix-up in KFC Meelberg's zone, Camiel Vissenaekens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rudi Ronsman came out of the goal and Camiel Vissenaekens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 57 minutes, Billy Goffyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wijnegem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Billy Goffyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 60 minutes, Billy Goffyn made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. KFC Meelberg's Rudi Ronsman tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Wijnegem getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Niel Van Geertruyen hit a great ball. Corneel Vuerinx fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolaas Snieders having to interfere. Nicolaas Snieders made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Corneel Vuerinx sent off a good shot on target. Rudi Ronsman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Camiel Vissenaekens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 80th minute, Hugo Van De Wyngaert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Camiel Vissenaekens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brent-Jan Mons hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. After having played for 90 minutes, Billy Goffyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wijnegem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Billy Goffyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wijnegem walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
