The penalty shot was made by Hannes de Nooter, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of KFC Zarren's Octaaf Coekelberghs. 0-1. KFC Zarren's Octaaf Coekelberghs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glen Van Meerbek in the 9th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kris Smolders got free with Luuk Schroons in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 15 played minutes KFC Zarren got a freekick which was hit by Jerry Dhondt. In the 19th minute, Kris Smolders hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kris Smolders fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luuk Schroons having to interfere. Luuk Schroons was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Julius Hustinx. If Kris Smolders had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the game, Bartjan Hairpoel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. KSV Wanne's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave KFC Zarren the free kick. After 28 played minutes KSV Wanne got a freekick which was hit by Bartjan Hairpoel. When Bartjan Hairpoel came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the KSV Wanne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bartjan Hairpoel couldn't finish the play. Mathieu-Maxim Robijns charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mathieu-Maxim Robijns the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Octaaf Coekelberghs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Glen Van Meerbek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Glen Van Meerbek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Octaaf Coekelberghs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gustav Beekman charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gustav Beekman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of KSV Wanne booed when KFC Zarren was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustav Beekman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute, Glen Van Meerbek made a precise shot to the right of Octaaf Coekelberghs. KFC Zarren's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Jeff Sliepers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Octaaf Coekelberghs having to interfere. After the first half KSV Wanne were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Glen Van Meerbek made the kick off in the second half. Jeff Sliepers struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Octaaf Coekelberghs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KSV Wanne. Goffrey Lijsens kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Kris Smolders fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luuk Schroons having to interfere. After 62 minutes, Werner Raaymakers mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KFC Zarren and the KSV Wanne players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Jeff Sliepers came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the KSV Wanne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeff Sliepers couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, KFC Zarren's Octaaf Coekelberghs got control of the ball when Jeff Sliepers tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched KSV Wanne eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
