Sattledt's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newcastle United the free kick. In the 3rd match minute, Sattledt was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Günter Schneider to maneuver through the defense. Simon Tiesse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Enno Mayer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simon Tiesse, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Newcastle United's Erik Gerlinger got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rouven Horsky recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Enno Mayer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erik Gerlinger in the 13th minute. In the 15th match minute, Sattledt was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Schellenberger to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Simon Tiesse managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newcastle United's supporters rose to their feet, but Simon Tiesse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enno Mayer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 20th minute, Simon Tiesse fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The supporters of Newcastle United booed when Sattledt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Schellenberger didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Sattledt's Enno Mayer got control of the ball when Erik Gerlinger tried to sneak it across the goal line. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 28th minute, but Enno Mayer got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Sattledt hanging dry this time. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claus Kühnen in the 36th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Plamen Pashkulev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rouven Horsky sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Michael Opgen-Rhein to strike the kick off in the second half. Newcastle United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erik Gerlinger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sattledt's zone, Erik Gerlinger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enno Mayer came out of the goal and Erik Gerlinger tried to chip the ball over his head. The audience was convinced that Erik Gerlinger's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Enno Mayer was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Erik Gerlinger charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Erik Gerlinger the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Sattledt's Marvin Berger got a free kick in the 86th minute. 90 minutes into the match, Erik Gerlinger notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Sattledt's Enno Mayer. Enno Mayer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 95 minutes into the match, Sattledt's goal looked a bit too open when Simon Tiesse came free, but Enno Mayer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Newcastle United fully deserved thier win.
