An unexpectedly hard shot by Marc Garbe in the 46th minute of play forced Horbranz's goalkeeper Simon Hillerzeder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Horbranz were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marc Garbe made a kick off. Christian Pierron could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Clemens Kiefer made a huge save. Horbranz's Rudolf Schreiber got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Christian Pierron had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christian Pierron fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemens Kiefer having to interfere. When Matthias Metzler came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Horbranz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matthias Metzler couldn't finish the play. In the 65th match minute, Eckersdorf FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Till Ausweger to maneuver through the defense. Eckersdorf FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Horbranz the free kick.
