Julius Walhöfer was out of position in the 4 minute of play, and Roland Köhncke capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Roland Köhncke really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Urs-Peter Pantel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Heinz-Dieter Niehammer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matthias Gerat, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 12th minute, Urs-Peter Pantel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Powerdingen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Arno Lüdemann hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute of the match Gregor Brückler sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Heinz-Dieter Niehammer skillfully saved the ball. Karl-Heinz Bißt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julius Walhöfer having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ornding's Erich Weiden got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 38th match minute, Powerdingen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Busch to maneuver through the defense. 39 minutes into the match, Powerdingen's goalkeeper Julius Walhöfer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roland Köhncke. After 40 minutes of play Powerdingen's Michael Busch was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Michael Busch hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Karl-Heinz Bißt received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julius Walhöfer came out and tried to block the shot, but Karl-Heinz Bißt slotted it home off the left post making it 3-2 in the 42nd minute. Matthias Gerat kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Urs-Peter Pantel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Urs-Peter Pantel fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Heinz-Dieter Niehammer, passed just outside the right post. Karl-Heinz Bißt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Julius Walhöfer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Roland Köhncke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Heinz-Dieter Niehammer came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Powerdingen's Urs-Peter Pantel. But to his dismay, Urs-Peter Pantel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. Heinz-Dieter Niehammer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Urs-Peter Pantel in the 63rd minute. In the 69th minute, Ornding's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Urs-Peter Pantel fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpected shot in the 73rd minute by Urs-Peter Pantel got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Roland Köhncke struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Julius Walhöfer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ornding. Julius Walhöfer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl-Heinz Bißt in the 78th minute of the match. 79 minutes into the game, Matthias Gerat was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Powerdingen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ornding the free kick. Matthias Gerat kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Matthias Gerat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 86 minutes into the game, Marc Geiblinger was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ornding's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Powerdingen the free kick. After 86 played minutes Ornding got a freekick which was hit by Marc Geiblinger. In the 87th match minute, Powerdingen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heinz-Dieter Wurm to maneuver through the defense. If Urs-Peter Pantel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Urs-Peter Pantel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heinz-Dieter Niehammer having to interfere. When Christopher Seifert fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ornding's protests and gave Christopher Seifert a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ornding getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Christopher Seifert hit a great ball.
