The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Mariazell booed when Wernhies 08 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 18th minute Hendrik Blau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steffen Jancker saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clemens Wilmann who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Alex Klop when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Mariazell:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Wernhies 08:s goal. Clemens Wilmann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Mariazell's Alex Klop got control of the ball when Clemens Wilmann tried to sneak it across the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Hendrik Blau had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Steffen Jancker. Wernhies 08's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hendrik Blau was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 44 minutes into the match, Hendrik Blau notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Wernhies 08's Steffen Jancker. Steffen Jancker was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mariazell's goalkeeper Alex Klop, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dominic-Simon Unterligauer was the one to do the kick off. Steffen Jancker didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jürgen Zupancic went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Lothar Reichel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Alex Klop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Lothar Reichel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alex Klop was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dominic-Simon Unterligauer in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Steffen Jancker prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Clemens Wilmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Alex Klop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Wernhies 08 getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Michael Malliouris hit a great ball. If Lothar Reichel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chants of Mariazell echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Wernhies 08 had held the ball for most of the match.
