Antony Dryden struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Zak Holyfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Llorts. 6 minutes into the game, Oliver Blackley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Poynton City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Llorts the free kick. After a rather tough play, Poynton City's Oliver Blackley got a free kick in the 6th minute. Jim Blueman succeeded in the game's 7th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. After 11 minutes of play, Poynton City's Nick Croyden made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kieran Newman was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mike Lineker got in the 17th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Zak Holyfield handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Jim Blueman struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Zak Holyfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Llorts. Zak Holyfield was a little too slow when Mike Lineker got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 2-1. Mickey Bourne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kieran Newman having to interfere. If Mickey Bourne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Sporting Llorts booed when Poynton City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leroy Dingle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting Llorts were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Poynton City's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. William Croyden took the corner. Sporting Llorts's William Croyden was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Zak Holyfield in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jim Blueman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zak Holyfield having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mickey Bourne made a kick off. A collision led to Sporting Llorts getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Lee Allott hit a great ball. Kieran Newman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mickey Bourne in the 53rd minute of play. If Jim Blueman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kieran Newman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mickey Bourne in the 61st minute of the match. With a little luck, Sporting Llorts's Kieran Newman got control of the ball when Nick Croyden tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 65th minute, Nick Croyden got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 71st minute Jim Blueman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zak Holyfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Mickey Bourne came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Poynton City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mickey Bourne couldn't finish the play. In the 78th minute, one of Sporting Llorts:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sporting Llorts. 2-2 came through a penalty shot after 80 played minutes, when Poynton City:s Leroy Dingle calmly waited for Sporting Llorts:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Lineker in the 86th minute of play forced Poynton City's goalkeeper Zak Holyfield to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88thth minute of the game Mike Lineker who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Poynton City's Zak Holyfield was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 91st minute, Mike Lineker ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zak Holyfield was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. In the 96th minute, Jim Blueman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Llorts fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. Poynton City's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
