Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Billy Barton got the match started through his kick off. 7 minutes into the game, Gavin Sewell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Milton City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Llorts the free kick. Gavin Sewell hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Jim Blueman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Mike Lineker's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ged Downton was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jim Blueman in the 14th minute of play forced Milton City's goalkeeper Ged Downton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jim Blueman in the 17th minute of play forced Milton City's goalkeeper Ged Downton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Mike Lineker put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ged Downton. Ged Downton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jim Blueman in the 25th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Sporting Llorts's Antony Dryden got a free kick in the 30th minute. If Billy Barton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Milton City defense, Jim Blueman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ged Downton. The Milton City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ged Downton should have stopped the shot. In the 38th minute, Stuart Haskell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 39th minute, William Croyden sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Milton City's Ged Downton didn't even have to move. Ged Downton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mike Lineker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Milton City defense, Mike Lineker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ged Downton. The Milton City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ged Downton should have stopped the shot. Billy Barton received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kieran Newman came out and tried to block the shot, but Billy Barton slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 48th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mike Lineker made a kick off. In the 58th minute there was a penalty for Sporting Llorts. William Croyden stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ged Downton. 1-4. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mike Lineker in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ged Downton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Guy Fitzsymon fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Milton City's protests and gave Guy Fitzsymon a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Sporting Llorts booed when Milton City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guy Fitzsymon didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute, Mike Lineker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Llorts fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. Mike Lineker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jim Blueman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A hard shot 74 in the game by Jim Blueman from a close distance when the talented Ged Downton managed to make a qualified save. Milton City's players were relieved. After 75 minutes, Geoff Corbridge mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting Llorts and the Milton City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sporting Llorts's Geoff Corbridge got a free kick in the 75th minute. If Reuben Carpenter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ged Downton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mike Lineker in the 81st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jim Blueman got free with Ged Downton in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gavin Sewell hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. A hard shot 95 in the game by Jim Blueman from a close distance when the talented Ged Downton managed to make a qualified save. Milton City's players were relieved. Reuben Carpenter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ged Downton was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 99th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Lee Allott. When the match was over Sporting Llorts could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Milton City throughout the match.
