Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Timothy Moon started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Denholme AFC booed when Cambridge United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bryan Hunt didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Lowndes in the 6th minute of play forced Cambridge United's goalkeeper Joshua Brown to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 8 minutes, Ethan Burkinshaw mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Denholme AFC and the Cambridge United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sidney Lowndes struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Joshua Brown didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Denholme AFC. After 15 minutes, Jools Lonsdale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Denholme AFC and the Cambridge United players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Denholme AFC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Jools Lonsdale hit a great ball. Jools Lonsdale kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sidney Lowndes in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joshua Brown prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Cambridge United's Bryan Hunt got a free kick in the 32nd minute. 33 minutes into the match, Sidney Lowndes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Joshua Brown, 2-0. In the 36th minute, Adrian Burkinshaw reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joshua Brown. The goal made the score 3-0. If Timothy Moon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jon Moore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddie Allison having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sidney Lowndes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Cambridge United's zone, Adrian Burkinshaw stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joshua Brown came out of the goal and Adrian Burkinshaw tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adrian Burkinshaw sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jon Moore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 60th minute, Jools Lonsdale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adrian Burkinshaw fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joshua Brown having to interfere. Timothy Moon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddie Allison having to interfere. Jon Moore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cambridge United's goalkeeper Joshua Brown, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 76 minutes into the match, Cambridge United's goal looked a bit too open when Adrian Burkinshaw came free, but Joshua Brown reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Adrian Burkinshaw had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joshua Brown. Cambridge United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adrian Burkinshaw was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. When Adrian Burkinshaw came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Denholme AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adrian Burkinshaw couldn't finish the play. In the 87th minute, Jon Moore ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eddie Allison was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Jon Moore struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Eddie Allison didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cambridge United. Joshua Brown stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sidney Lowndes's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Denholme AFC's zone, Jon Moore stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eddie Allison came out of the goal and Jon Moore tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Denholme AFC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
