Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Sidney Lowndes started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Antony Swain stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sidney Lowndes's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. Shelfield's Antony Swain played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidney Lowndes in the 8th minute of play. In the 10th match minute, Shelfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Eyre to maneuver through the defense. Phillip Chipperfield charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Phillip Chipperfield the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Phillip Chipperfield kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Eddie Allison showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonny Herring, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. When Ethan Burkinshaw fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Denholme AFC's protests and gave Ethan Burkinshaw a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Denholme AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 15th minute. Penalty! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jonny Herring in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eddie Allison saved Denholme AFC from getting behind. If Jamal Castledine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Denholme AFC's goalkeeper Eddie Allison, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Lowndes in the 30th minute of play forced Shelfield's goalkeeper Antony Swain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adrian Burkinshaw received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Antony Swain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antony Swain made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Lowndes in the 33rd minute of play. Antony Swain showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adrian Burkinshaw in the 36th minute of the match. The supporters of Denholme AFC booed when Shelfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. James Beaver didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adrian Burkinshaw struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Antony Swain didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Denholme AFC. Antony Swain stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adrian Burkinshaw's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Sidney Lowndes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Antony Swain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 46 minutes, Michael Eyre mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Shelfield and the Denholme AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 46 played minutes Shelfield got a freekick which was hit by Michael Eyre. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jonny Herring stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jonny Herring sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Denholme AFC's Sidney Grayson got a free kick in the 57th minute. Jamal Castledine spun around in front of the goal 58 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Denholme AFC's goal. When Jonny Herring, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 63 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Eddie Allison was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 65 minutes into the game, Sidney Grayson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Denholme AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Shelfield the free kick. A collision led to Denholme AFC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Sidney Grayson hit a great ball. In the 66th minute of the match Vincent Ingham sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eddie Allison skillfully saved the ball. Adrian Burkinshaw received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Antony Swain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Shelfield's Jamal Castledine in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Denholme AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Jonny Herring fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddie Allison having to interfere. Jonny Herring sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Denholme AFC's Adrian Burkinshaw in 84 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Antony Swain guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jonny Herring in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eddie Allison saved Denholme AFC from getting behind. Jonny Herring fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddie Allison having to interfere. Adrian Burkinshaw recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Antony Swain took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Lowndes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
