With 30 minutes on the clock, Brian Shipley commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. One of Club Atlétic Andorra:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Shakhtar Donetsk:s goal. After some careless play in the Club Atlétic Andorra defense, Doug Holyfield kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jacob Stonehouse. The Club Atlétic Andorra fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jacob Stonehouse should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in FC Shakhtar Donetsk's zone, Marcus Pollard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Harvey Smith came out of the goal and Marcus Pollard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Club Atlétic Andorra's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Doug Holyfield was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. If Ethan Stiles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 48 minutes into the match, Club Atlétic Andorra's goal looked a bit too open when Doug Holyfield came free, but Jacob Stonehouse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half FC Shakhtar Donetsk were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ethan Stiles was the one to do the kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 91 minutes, Jacob Stonehouse successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.
