The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 36 minutes of play, Atabey FK's Mümtazer Akata made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Şansal Ertuna was left in no man's land by his defense there! Adem Ünzil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Songur Eröz made a huge save. If Adem Ünzil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Polat Kırman made a kick off. Şansal Ertuna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sinan Hünkar in the 51st minute of the match. 57 minutes into the game, Mersin's Mehmet Anıl Akpınar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Songur Eröz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adem Ünzil in the 67th minute of play forced Atabey FK's goalkeeper Songur Eröz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karadeniz Enfal struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Şansal Ertuna didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atabey FK. If Hamza Kadıoğlu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd minute, Mümtazer Akata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Karadeniz Enfal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Mersin were victorious despite being under pressure from Atabey FK for much of the match.
