Kayhan Serim struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Tahir Uğuray didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Catalpinar. In the 9th minute, Güray Tokuş got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fetih Dilhun could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Dale Wall made a huge save. Samsun FK's Gürol Kuray got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gürol Kuray in the 17th minute of play forced Catalpinar's goalkeeper Dale Wall to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fetih Dilhun who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Dale Wall when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 23 minutes into the game, Kayhan Serim was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Catalpinar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Samsun FK the free kick. Kayhan Serim hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Kayhan Serim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Tahir Uğuray tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dale Wall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gürol Kuray in the 33rd minute of play. Catalpinar's Güray Tokuş got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Güray Tokuş hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Tahir Uğuray made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kayhan Serim in the 40th minute of play. Süleyman Kunt was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 41st minute. Samsun FK's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Dale Wall showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gürol Kuray, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fetih Dilhun got free with Dale Wall in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dale Wall made an important save on a dangerous shot by Oğuzkan Akil in the 46th minute. Gürol Kuray sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gürol Kuray was the one to do the kick off. Kayhan Serim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Tahir Uğuray made a huge save. Gürol Kuray took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dale Wall. Dale Wall dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Catalpinar's Dale Wall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gürol Kuray in the 75th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Feridun Demirağ hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the match, Samsun FK's goal looked a bit too open when Güray Tokuş came free, but Tahir Uğuray reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Catalpinar's Kayhan Serim got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Güray Tokuş got free with Tahir Uğuray in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Samsun FK's zone, Güray Tokuş stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tahir Uğuray came out of the goal and Güray Tokuş tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kayhan Serim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tahir Uğuray having to interfere. A collision led to Samsun FK getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Süleyman Kunt hit a great ball. A hard shot 89 in the game by Güray Tokuş from a close distance when the talented Tahir Uğuray managed to make a qualified save. Samsun FK's players were relieved. Güray Tokuşs short, quick shot in the 92ndth minute got Tahir Uğuray to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of Samsun FK booed when Catalpinar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Necdet Cezar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Samsun FK's Veli Tümerdem tried to score from far away in the 97th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The Catalpinar players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Samsun FK from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
