But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bülent Tolay couldn't finish the play. After 12 played minutes Real Madrid CF got a freekick which was hit by Tevfik Fazilet. Baycan Öğeturk hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Vitold Kohan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Aktuğ Onal made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bülent Tolay in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Morales prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 28th match minute, ArıkSpor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bülent Tolay to maneuver through the defense. Aktuğ Onal was a little too slow when Hakkı Suphi got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 39th minute. The score was now 1-0. After a rather tough play, ArıkSpor's Bülent Tolay got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Vitold Kohan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Aktuğ Onal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

ArıkSpor's Aktuğ Onal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dráuzio Cardoso in the 51st minute of play. Aktuğ Onal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hakkı Suphi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 55th minute Dráuzio Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aktuğ Onal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aktuğ Onal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitold Kohan in the 56th minute of the match. Hakkı Suphi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Hikmet Cenan fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ArıkSpor's protests and gave Hikmet Cenan a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, ArıkSpor's Hikmet Cenan got a free kick in the 69th minute.
