If Şanver Erguvan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Giresun booed when Büyükdere was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Özgür Eryaman didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Büyükdere's zone, Şanver Erguvan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ali Berkant Şenbay came out of the goal and Şanver Erguvan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cüneyt Paker's late challenge caught a Giresun's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cüneyt Paker helped the player get up and apologised. In the 13th minute, Cüneyt Paker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Şanver Erguvan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Ali Berkant Şenbay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Büyükdere getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Aydemir Kainat hit a great ball. Giresun's Şanver Erguvan got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 30 played minutes Büyükdere got a freekick which was hit by Özgür Eryaman. Ali Berkant Şenbay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Şanver Erguvan in the 32nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Birkan Namık managed to get in a good position for a shot. Büyükdere's supporters rose to their feet, but Birkan Namık was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Göksun Safih breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Özgür Eryaman kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Ali Berkant Şenbay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Semavi Topel in the 41st minute of play. Semavi Topel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ali Berkant Şenbay read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kerimhan Bayar made a kick off. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Büyükdere's goalkeeper Ali Berkant Şenbay, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Şanver Erguvan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Ali Berkant Şenbay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Göksun Safih showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Birkan Namık in the 60th minute of the match. İlmi Özay kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 66 minutes, Ali Berkant Şenbay successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Giresun getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Namık Kemal Uğurcan hit a great ball. After 78 played minutes Giresun got a freekick which was hit by Adem Çağaçar. Şanver Erguvan struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Ali Berkant Şenbay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Giresun.
