Talat Böke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nurtekin Mahsun in the 5th minute of the match. Şener Oykut recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Talat Böke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nurtekin Mahsun, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. The audience was convinced that Nurtekin Mahsun's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Talat Böke was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. After 20 minutes, Cabbar Pekol mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Izmit and the Dereli FK players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Izmit's Cabbar Pekol got a free kick in the 20th minute. Emre Hattat's late challenge caught a Izmit's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emre Hattat helped the player get up and apologised. Dereli FK's Göktan Ulutan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Şener Oykut in the 34th minute of play. If Şener Oykut had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Şener Oykut to make the kick off. The Izmit fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. When Nurtekin Mahsun came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Dereli FK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nurtekin Mahsun couldn't finish the play. Dursun Arısan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Talat Böke having to interfere.
