Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Şükrü Akyıldız made the kick off and thus started the match. 9 minutes into the game, one of Mersin İdman Yurdu:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Asım Arif Kutay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Şükrü Akyıldız, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mersin İdman Yurdu's goalkeeper Avni Vedatoğulları, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cevdet Özalpsan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Avni Vedatoğulları having to interfere. Emirhan Kurban recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 27 minutes, Emirhan Kurban made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Mersin İdman Yurdu's Avni Vedatoğulları tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Avni Vedatoğulları showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cevdet Özalpsan in the 33rd minute of the match. When Cevdet Özalpsan came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Izmir fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cevdet Özalpsan couldn't finish the play. After 35 minutes, Utkan Haseki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mersin İdman Yurdu and the Izmir players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 35th minute, Utkan Haseki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Cevdet Özalpsan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, Mersin İdman Yurdu's goalkeeper Avni Vedatoğulları had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emirhan Kurban. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Izmir's defense didn't have a chance, in the 54th minute, when Şükrü Akyıldız scored to the left of an out of position Asım Arif Kutay, making the score, 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emirhan Kurban in the 59th minute of play forced Mersin İdman Yurdu's goalkeeper Avni Vedatoğulları to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Mersin İdman Yurdu's Utkan Haseki got a free kick in the 59th minute. Izmir's Cevdet Özalpsan got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Asım Arif Kutay made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Ceyhan Süleymanoğlu sent off a good shot on target. Avni Vedatoğulları didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cevdet Özalpsan went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Emirhan Kurban's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Avni Vedatoğulları was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. When Kutalp Nurullah fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mersin İdman Yurdu's protests and gave Kutalp Nurullah a yellow card for diving instead. Emirhan Kurban received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Avni Vedatoğulları tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Avni Vedatoğulları made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emirhan Kurban in the 84th minute of play. In the 86th minute, Emirhan Kurban got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Emirhan Kurban managed to get in a good position for a shot. Izmir's supporters rose to their feet, but Emirhan Kurban was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Avni Vedatoğulları breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th minute Cevdet Özalpsan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Avni Vedatoğulları saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
