Muhsin Tuğbay charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Muhsin Tuğbay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 10th minute, Muhsin Tuğbay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FENERBAHCE SK's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ahmet Oğuz Türkşen 13 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Arif Ensar Tayfun ran back to his position shaking his head. When Orhan Veli Yenisey came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the FENERBAHCE SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Orhan Veli Yenisey couldn't finish the play. In the 29th minute, Cafer Nadir got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Orhan Veli Yenisey kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in FENERBAHCE SK's zone, Arif Ensar Tayfun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andaç Palabıyık came out of the goal and Arif Ensar Tayfun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aziz Selil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orhan Veli Yenisey in the 35th minute of the match. In the 43rd minute Orhan Veli Yenisey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aziz Selil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aziz Selil showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orhan Veli Yenisey, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The supporters of FENERBAHCE SK booed when Kalkandere was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Oğuz Türkşen didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Kalkandere fans cheered their team off the field, for while FENERBAHCE SK had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
