An unexpectedly hard shot by Efe İlhan in the 8th minute of play forced KARŞIYAKA's goalkeeper Yavuz Selimhan Taşan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gerhard Frieg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kudret Dural in the 14th minute of play. Sapanca SK's Gerhard Frieg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Semail Kantürk in the 33rd minute of play. In the 38th minute of the match, Aktan Polathan got a very nice opportunity to score, but Yavuz Selimhan Taşan was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 45th minute, Melih Cevdet Dertsiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 49th minute, Efe İlhan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sapanca SK's supporters rose to their feet, but Efe İlhan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yavuz Selimhan Taşan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Semail Kantürk to strike the kick off in the second half. Hıdır Paye hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. 63 minutes into the match, Sapanca SK's goal looked a bit too open when Hıdır Paye came free, but Gerhard Frieg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kudret Dural got free with Gerhard Frieg in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 66 minutes into the match, Sapanca SK's goalkeeper Gerhard Frieg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kudret Dural. In the 74th minute, Necip Yenisey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 78th minute Semail Kantürk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerhard Frieg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Efe İlhan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 88 minutes into the match, KARŞIYAKA's goal looked a bit too open when Aktan Polathan came free, but Yavuz Selimhan Taşan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mete Münir's late challenge caught a KARŞIYAKA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mete Münir helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of KARŞIYAKA booed when Sapanca SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mete Münir didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kudret Dural fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerhard Frieg having to interfere. Sapanca SK's Gerhard Frieg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Sapanca SK from getting a goal against them.
