After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Hikmet Pekgöz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bornova SK's supporters rose to their feet, but Hikmet Pekgöz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kılıçhan Sanal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mehmet Ali Kuman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Kılıçhan Sanal made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tarkan Serhad in the 34th minute of play forced Bornova SK's goalkeeper Cengiz Durualp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If İldeniz Durcan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sabahattin İlkut hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Sekerspor's Kılıçhan Sanal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hikmet Pekgöz in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 58th minute, Arda Ulubay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bornova SK's Cengiz Durualp proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Bornova SK from getting a goal against them. 68 minutes into the match, Sekerspor's İldeniz Durcan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cengiz Durualp narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kılıçhan Sanal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Egemen Cengel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the match, Bornova SK's goalkeeper Cengiz Durualp had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tarkan Serhad.
