A collision led to Atletico Madrid getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Bedir Arıkan hit a great ball. Dursun Ali Cumhur struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Namık Kemal Dilşad didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Izmir JK. In the 18th minute, Emin Baybora hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Şakir Nurkan's late challenge caught a Izmir JK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Şakir Nurkan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 19th match minute, Atletico Madrid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Şakir Nurkan to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute of the match Ruhi Nadi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Namık Kemal Dilşad showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ahmet Hamdi Toktahan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Çetin Işın in the 25th minute. After 31 played minutes Izmir JK got a freekick which was hit by Bedri Ayman. Paşa Behram sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Seyhan Vahip's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Namık Kemal Dilşad read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. Tayyar Tümer charged in rather forcefully in the 48th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tayyar Tümer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Atletico Madrid fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 48th minute. Penalty! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paşa Behram stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dursun Ali Cumhur did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-2 to the left of a surprised Namık Kemal Dilşad 68 minutes into the match. In the 75thth minute of the game Dursun Ali Cumhur who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atletico Madrid's Namık Kemal Dilşad was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Namık Kemal Dilşad made an important save on a dangerous shot by Seyhan Vahip in the 76th minute. Namık Kemal Dilşad showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dursun Ali Cumhur in the 78th minute of the match. Izmir JK's Ahmet Hamdi Toktahan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paşa Behram in the 81st minute of play. If Dursun Ali Cumhur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Atletico Madrid's Bedir Arıkan got his second yellow card of the match in the 89th minute. The referee ordered Bedir Arıkan off the ground. Bedir Arıkan hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 90th minute, Ruhi Nadi sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Atletico Madrid's Namık Kemal Dilşad didn't even have to move. After a defensive mix-up in Atletico Madrid's zone, Dursun Ali Cumhur stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Namık Kemal Dilşad came out of the goal and Dursun Ali Cumhur tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
