Metin Eryilmaz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bayram Vecihi, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Hüsrev Uçkan yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. In the 31st minute Reha Erdemli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Metin Eryilmaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 33 minutes, Birol Müslim mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mersin and the Kalecik players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Reha Erdemli came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Mersin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reha Erdemli couldn't finish the play. After 44 minutes, Cesur Şanalp mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kalecik and the Mersin players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 44th minute, Cesur Şanalp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 45 minutes into the match, Kalecik's goal looked a bit too open when Bayram Vecihi came free, but Metin Eryilmaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Bayram Vecihi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reha Erdemli to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Reha Erdemli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Metin Eryilmaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Şükrü Olguner's late challenge caught a Mersin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mehmet Arif Ertaş charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bayram Vecihi got free with Metin Eryilmaz in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Arcan Rahmet came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Kalecik fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arcan Rahmet couldn't finish the play. 73 minutes into the game, Arcan Rahmet cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Hüsrev Uçkan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bayram Vecihi got free with Metin Eryilmaz in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hüsrev Uçkan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arcan Rahmet in the 79th minute of play. 84 minutes into the match, Arcan Rahmet had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hüsrev Uçkan. Mersin's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arcan Rahmet was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. After 89 minutes, Birol Evliya mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mersin and the Kalecik players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Kalecik fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mersin had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
