Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Hayati Işıklar sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Mersin booed when ERZURUM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hayati Çetin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hayati Işıklar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu having to interfere. ERZURUM's Şehzade Dahi got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ali Haydar Kapkin scored 1-0 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the ERZURUM defense, Ali Haydar Kapkin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu. The ERZURUM fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ali Haydar Kapkin during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Şehzade Dahi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rüknettin Ağca in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Başar Tunçkol prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Şehzade Dahi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Başar Tunçkol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Başar Tunçkol stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rüknettin Ağca's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. Şehzade Dahi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Azmi Münir sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mersin's Başar Tunçkol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Şehzade Dahi in the 53rd minute of play. Başar Tunçkol made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rüknettin Ağca in the 59th minute. Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Uygur Refah, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 71 minutes, Şehzade Dahi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ERZURUM's supporters crossed their fingers, but Şehzade Dahi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. ERZURUM's Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uygur Refah in the 73rd minute of play. Mersin's Uygur Refah got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. In the 91st minute, Sait Dizdar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 93 minutes into the match, ERZURUM's goal looked a bit too open when Uygur Refah came free, but Bayındır Mehmet İdrisoğlu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mersin fans cheered their team off the field, for while ERZURUM had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
