Kasım Buğdaycı fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kandemir Işınsu having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yaser Arslan in the 14th minute of play forced Sivasspor's goalkeeper Arkın Kınık to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cavit Erbay's late challenge caught a Melikgazi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cavit Erbay helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sivasspor's Cavit Erbay got a free kick in the 20th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Sivasspor's goal looked a bit too open when Yaser Arslan came free, but Arkın Kınık reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th minute, Yunus Kutulmuş hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yaser Arslan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arkın Kınık read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Yaser Arslan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Melikgazi's supporters rose to their feet, but Yaser Arslan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arkın Kınık breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 32nd minute Yaser Arslan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arkın Kınık saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. İsa Geçer struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Kandemir Işınsu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sivasspor. İsa Geçer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kandemir Işınsu having to interfere. If İsa Geçer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kandemir Işınsu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kasım Buğdaycı in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Yaser Arslan made a kick off. After 51 minutes, Yaser Arslan made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Sivasspor's Arkın Kınık tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 57th minute, Seyfettin Haliloğlu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arkın Kınık showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yunus Kutulmuş in the 78th minute of the match. In the 81st match minute, Melikgazi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Seyfettin Haliloğlu to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Atilla Kağan Hasankeyf from long distance, 81 minutes into the match, got Kandemir Işınsu's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 84th minute Yaser Arslan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arkın Kınık saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Yunus Kutulmuş in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arkın Kınık saved Sivasspor from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Melikgazi's zone, İsa Geçer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kandemir Işınsu came out of the goal and İsa Geçer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Melikgazi had won after a very even match.
