When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Melih Cevdet Onultan put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of İsa Akbuğ. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Sögüt FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. İlker Cilasun didn't get a good kick on the ball. Selim Tuğtekin struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Hüsamettin Alpsoy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galatasaray. The audience was convinced that Erkan Tahir's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but İsa Akbuğ was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Hüsamettin Alpsoy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abdulbaki Bekata in the 16th minute of the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Galatasaray fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 19th minute. Penalty! In the 21st minute there was a penalty for Sögüt FK. Abdulbaki İbiş stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving İsa Akbuğ. 0-2. İsa Akbuğ showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erkan Tahir in the 25th minute of the match. If Melih Cevdet Onultan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Melih Cevdet Onultan came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Sögüt FK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Melih Cevdet Onultan couldn't finish the play. 33 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goal looked a bit too open when Melih Cevdet Onultan came free, but İsa Akbuğ reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sögüt FK's Ant Üçok got a free kick in the 37th minute. Doğan Değirmencioğlu hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Abdulbaki Bekata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 46 minutes, Ant Üçok mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sögüt FK and the Galatasaray players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th minute, Ant Üçok hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Abdulbaki Bekata made a kick off. İsa Akbuğ took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erkan Tahir, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hüsamettin Alpsoy came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Galatasaray's Abdulbaki Bekata. But to his dismay, Abdulbaki Bekata quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Melih Cevdet Onultan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without İsa Akbuğ having to interfere. İsa Akbuğ made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erkan Tahir in the 63rd minute of play. In the 65th minute, Erkan Tahir got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 69thth minute of the game Erkan Tahir who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Galatasaray's İsa Akbuğ was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Melih Cevdet Onultan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 72ndth minute tested the skills of İsa Akbuğ when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Erkan Tahir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without İsa Akbuğ having to interfere. Selim Tuğtekin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hüsamettin Alpsoy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abdulbaki Bekata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sögüt FK's Erkan Tahir got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. İsa Akbuğ showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erkan Tahir, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. In the 88th minute, Abdulbaki Bekata made a precise shot to the right of Hüsamettin Alpsoy. Sögüt FK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Abdulbaki Bekata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sögüt FK were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
