The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Şahin Zirve's late challenge caught a Canakkale's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Şahin Zirve helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th match minute, Lapseki was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Şahin Zirve to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Mehmet Bilge Otay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Lapseki booed when Canakkale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afşar Sazak didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nuratay Oyhan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Yüce Onay made a huge save. Nuratay Oyhan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Yüce Onay came out and tried to block the shot, but Nuratay Oyhan slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Yüce Onay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Selçuk Şahiner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kutlay Cuma in the 27th minute of play forced Lapseki's goalkeeper Faruk Adıgüzel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Faruk Adıgüzel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Songurbey Hürol went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Yüce Onay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Selçuk Şahiner in the 34th minute of the match. 35 minutes had been played when some careless play by Canakkale's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ali Macit Cesur was slow to take the kick. During this time Lapseki's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Lapseki's Ali Macit Cesur to fire away a dangerous shot which Yüce Onay despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Devlet Önder kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. 45 minutes into the match, Canakkale's goal looked a bit too open when Selçuk Şahiner came free, but Yüce Onay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Canakkale's Yüce Onay proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Canakkale from getting a goal against them.

Canakkale's Yüce Onay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Selçuk Şahiner in the 54th minute of play. Yüce Onay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Selçuk Şahiner in the 58th minute of the match. Despite being the better team, Lapseki failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
