The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fehmi Emiroğlu kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Şensoy Akkaş came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Gevas's Sungurbey Acartürk. But to his dismay, Sungurbey Acartürk quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Ahmet Harun Özinal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. GALATASARAY's Şensoy Akkaş played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ahmet Harun Özinal in the 17th minute of play. In the 19th minute Abdi Saygın Ayıkoğlu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şensoy Akkaş saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Çağdaş Nevruz managed to get in a good position for a shot. GALATASARAY's supporters rose to their feet, but Çağdaş Nevruz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sacit Salman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 46 minutes into the match, GALATASARAY's goal looked a bit too open when Sungurbey Acartürk came free, but Şensoy Akkaş reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Ercan Özaydın sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Gevas's zone, Çağdaş Nevruz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sacit Salman came out of the goal and Çağdaş Nevruz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ercan Özaydın fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GALATASARAY's protests and gave Ercan Özaydın a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Gevas booed when GALATASARAY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ercan Özaydın didn't get a good kick on the ball. Şensoy Akkaş showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ahmet Harun Özinal, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 70th match minute, GALATASARAY was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efekan Şükür to maneuver through the defense. After 72 minutes of play, Gevas's Abdi Saygın Ayıkoğlu made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Şensoy Akkaş was left in no man's land by his defense there! Efekan Şükür received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Sacit Salman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Harun Özinal in the 80th minute of play forced GALATASARAY's goalkeeper Şensoy Akkaş to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 81 minutes into the game, Gevas's Sungurbey Acartürk nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Şensoy Akkaş made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Efekan Şükür during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 86th minute, Efekan Şükür hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th match minute, GALATASARAY was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferit Rasif to maneuver through the defense.
