The supporters of Özvatan booed when Kocaelispor SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sedat Eryiğit didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Özvatan's Mehmet Osman Akersoy broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. If Şenol Seyfeddin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Saadettin Gazir could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Ali Erdem Umay made a huge save. In the 67th minute, Saadettin Gazir ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ali Erdem Umay was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Ali Cengiz Uluman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Şenol Seyfeddin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mehmet Çağrı Okyay ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Rüştü Akdemirci managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kocaelispor SK's supporters rose to their feet, but Rüştü Akdemirci was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nurettin Özdilek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Şenol Seyfeddin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 95 minutes, Ali Cengiz Uluman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Özvatan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ali Cengiz Uluman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kocaelispor SK's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
