In the 23rd minute Aybek Muzaffer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baskın Boztepe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Rafettin Özden came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Kepez fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafettin Özden couldn't finish the play. İnanç Yuluğ took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafettin Özden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rafettin Özden to make the kick off. In the 55th minute, Tümer Atasagun made a precise shot to the right of Baskın Boztepe. Kepez's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Demiralp Soyselçuk in the 64th minute of play forced Kepez's goalkeeper Baskın Boztepe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
