The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cankut Baykurt during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kiziltepe JK's Aybars Başbuğoğlu got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Denizhan Çağakan was extremely unlucky when he, in the 8th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Aybars Başbuğoğlu might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bilal Bülbül. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aybars Başbuğoğlu ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Lyon FC's Bilal Bülbül got control of the ball when Denizhan Çağakan tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Lyon FC's Cankut Baykurt got a free kick in the 12th minute. 13 minutes into the game, Kiziltepe JK's Aybars Başbuğoğlu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bilal Bülbül made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Aykan Bayındır showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baha Sanak, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Gökmen Kılıçaslan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aykan Bayındır having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aybars Başbuğoğlu got free with Bilal Bülbül in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 41st minute, Gökmen Kılıçaslan made a precise shot to the right of Aykan Bayındır. Kiziltepe JK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 46 minutes into the game, Denizhan Çağakan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. In the 53rd minute, Aybars Başbuğoğlu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kiziltepe JK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Baha Sanak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aykan Bayındır having to interfere. Denizhan Çağakan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Bilal Bülbül tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 84 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lyon FC! The referee gave Kiziltepe JK a penalty, 86 minutes into the game. After a defensive mix-up in Kiziltepe JK's zone, Bedrettin Toycan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aykan Bayındır came out of the goal and Bedrettin Toycan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denizhan Çağakan in the 97th minute of play forced Lyon FC's goalkeeper Bilal Bülbül to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kiziltepe JK's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
