When Christan Vieri came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Sivasli fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christan Vieri couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Göktan Ortanca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aybar Turkay was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Christan Vieri had several of the Dogubeyazit JK's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 24 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Aybar Turkay as he didn't even see the shot coming. After a defensive mix-up in Dogubeyazit JK's zone, Christan Vieri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aybar Turkay came out of the goal and Christan Vieri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Yavuzalp Şükür had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aybar Turkay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christan Vieri, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute.
