Ataol Tugal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Songurbey Okman's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Fenerbahçe's zone, Songurbey Okman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ataol Tugal came out of the goal and Songurbey Okman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edirne SK's Songurbey Okman got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edirne SK's Köksal Sebuktekin got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 18th minute, Songurbey Okman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Edirne SK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Ataol Tugal made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Köksal Sebuktekin sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Songurbey Okman in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ataol Tugal saved Fenerbahçe from getting behind. 43 minutes into the game, Berkem Hançer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fenerbahçe's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Edirne SK the free kick. The supporters of Edirne SK booed when Fenerbahçe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Berkem Hançer didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 47 minutes, Songurbey Okman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edirne SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Songurbey Okman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Berkem Hançer to strike the kick off in the second half. Songurbey Okman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ataol Tugal having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Ahmet Seyfi Darga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Köksal Sebuktekin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Batur Kutulmuş kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Ahmet Seyfi Darga hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Köksal Sebuktekin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Ataol Tugal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ahmet Seyfi Darga got his second yellow card in the match during the 74th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Edirne SK booed when Fenerbahçe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Seyfi Darga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Genco Cezri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hazım Berksan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Köksal Sebuktekin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ataol Tugal having to interfere. Ataol Tugal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Köksal Sebuktekin in the 84th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Genco Cezri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Reşat Bengi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Edirne SK walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
