The audience thought a goal was coming when Aysan Kazanhan got free with Mehmet Hakkı Baltaş in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Evren Akdoğ hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Abdurrahman Onatkan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gürün's supporters rose to their feet, but Abdurrahman Onatkan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mehmet Hakkı Baltaş breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Ceyhun Özertan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rasim Sargınal might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mehmet Hakkı Baltaş. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rasim Sargınal ran back to his position shaking his head. Aysan Kazanhan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mehmet Hakkı Baltaş read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Mehmet Hakkı Baltaş stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ceyhun Özertan's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. After having played for 23 minutes, Ceyhun Özertan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gürün's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ceyhun Özertan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Kayserispor FK's Harun Tapgaç got a free kick in the 24th minute. If Ceyhun Özertan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Namık Kemal Kurceren during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Evren Akdoğ charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Evren Akdoğ the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Kayserispor FK getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Evren Akdoğ hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ceyhun Özertan to strike the kick off in the second half. Kayserispor FK's Mehmet Hakkı Baltaş played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ceyhun Özertan in the 53rd minute of play. Gürün's Rasim Sargınal got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 56 minutes into the game, Cesur Tuğaltay was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kayserispor FK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gürün the free kick. Cesur Tuğaltay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Mete Cangiray tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 72 minutes into the match, Kayserispor FK's goal looked a bit too open when Abdurrahman Onatkan came free, but Mehmet Hakkı Baltaş reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abdurrahman Onatkan was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 95th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Gürün fully deserved thier win.
