After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Cenk Sönmezalp managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marmara FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Cenk Sönmezalp was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tahir Akkaynak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 9th minute Cenk Sönmezalp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tahir Akkaynak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Marmara FK's goal looked a bit too open when Semail Erginsoy came free, but Gencal Civanbaht reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nurettin Tükel hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Tahir Akkaynak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cenk Sönmezalp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Marmara FK booed when 29Temmuz1990 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hacı Ali Sezgi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gencal Civanbaht showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Semail Erginsoy in the 32nd minute of the match. After 36 minutes, Nurettin Tükel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Marmara FK and the 29Temmuz1990 players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 36 played minutes Marmara FK got a freekick which was hit by Nurettin Tükel. Asım Şükür was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 37th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The supporters of 29Temmuz1990 booed when Marmara FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nurettin Tükel didn't get a good kick on the ball. 41 minutes into the match, Asım Şükür sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Gencal Civanbaht threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Asım Şükür this time. After 41 played minutes Marmara FK got a freekick which was hit by Genco Irmak. If Batuğ Özgurel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Semail Erginsoy made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Semail Erginsoy in the 54th minute of play forced Marmara FK's goalkeeper Gencal Civanbaht to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 58 minutes of play Marmara FK's Nurettin Tükel was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. If Batuğ Özgurel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Semail Erginsoy in the 67th minute of play forced Marmara FK's goalkeeper Gencal Civanbaht to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Orhun Uçkun during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to 29Temmuz1990 getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Orhun Uçkun hit a great ball. Gencal Civanbaht made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orhun Uçkun in the 74th minute of play. In the 77th match minute, Marmara FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genco Irmak to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Marmara FK's zone, Arif Gaffar Ağca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gencal Civanbaht came out of the goal and Arif Gaffar Ağca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 82nd minute Semail Erginsoy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gencal Civanbaht saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Genco Irmak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Semail Erginsoy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
