Berke Kalagay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cezmi Sebuk in the 22nd minute of play forced Balikesir's goalkeeper Cihangir Şimşek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cihangir Şimşek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barış Betim, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Vecdet Muharrem fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Berke Kalagay having to interfere. Berke Kalagay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ferid Sendur, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Barış Betim put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Cihangir Şimşek. When Barış Betim came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the A.S.ROMA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barış Betim couldn't finish the play.

The referee ignored A.S.ROMA's protests and gave Cezmi Sebuk a yellow card for diving instead. In the 59th minute, Cezmi Sebuk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kıraç Talaykut could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Cihangir Şimşek made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Balikesir's zone, Cezmi Sebuk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cihangir Şimşek came out of the goal and Cezmi Sebuk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 67 minutes into the match, A.S.ROMA's Barış Betim sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cihangir Şimşek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 72 played minutes Balikesir got a freekick which was hit by Sinan Üner. Barış Betim took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Cihangir Şimşek. Balikesir's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, A.S.ROMA's Müslüm Umut got a free kick in the 75th minute. A.S.ROMA's Müslüm Umut quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Alican Kutsalmis, made in the 83rd minute of the game. In the 84th minute of the match Hasan Tahsin Eripek shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cihangir Şimşek showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Barış Betim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Balikesir's zone, Cezmi Sebuk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cihangir Şimşek came out of the goal and Cezmi Sebuk tried to chip the ball over his head. Ferid Sendur scored 1-3 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Berke Kalagay, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Berke Kalagay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aydemir Yasun, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Buğra Yöner's late challenge caught a A.S.ROMA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Buğra Yöner helped the player get up and apologised. After 95 played minutes Balikesir got a freekick which was hit by Buğra Yöner. Cihangir Şimşek made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Barış Betim sent off a good shot on target.
