Galatasaray FK's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hüsamettin Şahinoğlu in the 40th minute. A nice corner shot did that Hüsamettin Şahinoğlu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Burhanettin Öznur quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Saip Ergüder's late challenge caught a Gürsu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Saip Ergüder helped the player get up and apologised. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Mehmet Bedri Uluşahin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gürsu's supporters rose to their feet, but Mehmet Bedri Uluşahin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baki Yanar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vural Ozaner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baki Yanar having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After some careless play in the Galatasaray FK defense, Atay Adalı kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Baki Yanar. The Galatasaray FK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Baki Yanar should have stopped the shot. Gürsu's Mehmet Bedri Uluşahin got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee ignored Galatasaray FK's protests and gave Abdurrezzak Doğanhan a yellow card for diving instead.
