In the 13th minute Şinasi Uraz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dursun Nazif saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abdi İçöz in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dursun Nazif saved Mersin from getting behind. Dursun Nazif showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ferit Suerkan, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Dursun Nazif showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ferit Suerkan in the 29th minute of the match. Balamir Mert took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Serhat Özekan. Serhat Özekan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. With a little luck, Karatas FK's Serhat Özekan got control of the ball when Kunter Dokuzoğlu tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
