The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Agah Kayhan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agah Kayhan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Gökberk Tuncalp made a huge save. In the 12th minute, Ayvaz İmren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Durmuş Bircan came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Cankurtaran SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Durmuş Bircan couldn't finish the play. Seyfi Özan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celil İmren in the 18th minute of play. Durmuş Bircan struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Seyfi Özan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cankurtaran SK. Seyfi Özan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Gediz SK's goal looked a bit too open when Durmuş Bircan came free, but Seyfi Özan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Durmuş Bircan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Seyfi Özan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Çakır Alpman made a kick off. In the 54th minute Agah Kayhan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gökberk Tuncalp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gökberk Tuncalp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agah Kayhan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 60 minutes, Celil İmren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cankurtaran SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celil İmren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 68 played minutes Cankurtaran SK got a freekick which was hit by Tarık Turalp. If Celil İmren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. After having played for 76 minutes, Çakır Alpman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gediz SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Çakır Alpman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cankurtaran SK's goalkeeper Gökberk Tuncalp, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durmuş Bircan in the 81st minute of play forced Gediz SK's goalkeeper Seyfi Özan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gökberk Tuncalp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Çakır Alpman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 87 minutes into the match, Gediz SK's goal looked a bit too open when Durmuş Bircan came free, but Seyfi Özan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Durmuş Bircan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Seyfi Özan, 1-2. Reha Hasankeyf kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. In the 97th minute, Faruk Yazargil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 98 played minutes, Gediz SK's Bircan Yağızhan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gökberk Tuncalp came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gediz SK reached it. Cankurtaran SK played a much better game than Gediz SK and deserved their victory. The Gediz SK players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
