Oğuz Atılay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but İstemihan Özkutlu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Trabzon SK's zone, Duran Buğrahan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. İstemihan Özkutlu came out of the goal and Duran Buğrahan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oğuz Atılay in the 17th minute of play forced Trabzon SK's goalkeeper İstemihan Özkutlu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. İstemihan Özkutlu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Oğuz Atılay showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. İstemihan Özkutlu was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Özcan Yurdaer. Ahmet Ziya Sarphan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fırat İskenderoğlu having to interfere. 31 minutes into the game, Gürcan Hatemoğlu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Trabzon SK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Honaz the free kick. In the 31st minute, Gürcan Hatemoğlu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Honaz's Ertan Bozoğluer couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Trabzon SK. After 33 played minutes Trabzon SK got a freekick which was hit by Kemalettin Onursu. After 37 minutes of play, Trabzon SK's Gürcan Hatemoğlu made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fırat İskenderoğlu was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ahmet Ziya Sarphan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Duran Buğrahan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without İstemihan Özkutlu having to interfere. A collision led to Trabzon SK getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Berk Erensoy hit a great ball. İstemihan Özkutlu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oğuz Atılay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ahmet Seyfi Cezri kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. If Oğuz Atılay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Honaz's Oğuz Atılay in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Trabzon SK's goalie prevented a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Oğuz Atılay managed to get in a good position for a shot. Honaz's supporters rose to their feet, but Oğuz Atılay was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. İstemihan Özkutlu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Duran Buğrahan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Trabzon SK's Mansur Ayık got a free kick in the 79th minute. Duran Buğrahan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without İstemihan Özkutlu having to interfere. Duran Buğrahan struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. İstemihan Özkutlu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honaz. In the 88th minute, Trabzon SK's Ahmet Ziya Çokman seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ahmet Ziya Çokman the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Trabzon SK protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ahmet Ziya Çokman had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Tacettin Özkent was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 97th minute. Trabzon SK's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Honaz players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
