Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Atalay Yalaza in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Halil İbrahim Ilgın might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Talat Orkut. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Halil İbrahim Ilgın ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Esme's zone, Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Güralp Tuğtaşı came out of the goal and Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 23 played minutes Türkoglu got a freekick which was hit by Abidin Üstam. In the 24th minute of the match Arif Egemen Gümüşcü shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Talat Orkut showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Güralp Tuğtaşı stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Atalay Yalaza's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Ramazan Kınık took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Talat Orkut. Türkoglu's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Ekber Sabancı had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Talat Orkut took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ekber Sabancı, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, Halil İbrahim Ilgın notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Türkoglu's Talat Orkut. Talat Orkut was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Arcan Yusuf walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

53 minutes into the game, Sinan Berkkan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Türkoglu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esme the free kick. After 53 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Türkoglu! Arif Egemen Gümüşcü placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Ekber Sabancı received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Talat Orkut tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Esme's Orhan Türköz got a free kick in the 59th minute. After some careless play in the Esme defense, Atalay Yalaza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Güralp Tuğtaşı. The Esme fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Güralp Tuğtaşı should have stopped the shot. Talat Orkut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Halil İbrahim Ilgın, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Atalay Yalaza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Güralp Tuğtaşı having to interfere.
