The supporters of Ankaragücü booed when Murgul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Öztürk Ersan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Seyfettin Akkoyun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yağızalp Akdoğu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Asım Mahir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Demiralp Polathan having to interfere. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Seyfettin Akkoyun prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, Murgul's Seyfettin Akkoyun got control of the ball when Yiğit Tayfur tried to sneak it across the goal line. Seyfettin Akkoyun was out of position in the 40 minute of play, and Yağızalp Akdoğu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Yağızalp Akdoğu really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Yiğit Tayfur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Yağızalp Akdoğu to strike the kick off in the second half. Ankaragücü's Demiralp Polathan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Ankaragücü from getting a goal against them. Levent Akyıldız hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Murgul's Seyfettin Akkoyun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yiğit Tayfur in the 59th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Murgul's goal looked a bit too open when Yağızalp Akdoğu came free, but Seyfettin Akkoyun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecevit Sureha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Seyfettin Akkoyun having to interfere. Öztürk Ersan's late challenge caught a Ankaragücü's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Öztürk Ersan helped the player get up and apologised. Ankaragücü's Tanju Gezer couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 79th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Murgul. Seyfettin Akkoyun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yağızalp Akdoğu in the 83rd minute of play. Seyfettin Akkoyun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yağızalp Akdoğu, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute.
