The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Inebolu's Ali Nabi Torcan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erol Afşaroğlu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ali Nabi Torcan in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erol Afşaroğlu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Erol Afşaroğlu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ali Nabi Torcan, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Ali Nabi Torcan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erol Afşaroğlu having to interfere. Hakkı Onur Başeskioğlu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erdi Tecik in the 22nd minute of play. Erol Afşaroğlu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mehmet Fatih Cumhur, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Karadeniz Gazzali hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Hakkı Onur Cebeci received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Erol Afşaroğlu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Erol Afşaroğlu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ali Nabi Torcan in the 30th minute of the match. Erol Afşaroğlu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Ali Nabi Torcan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mehmet Fatih Cumhur might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erol Afşaroğlu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mehmet Fatih Cumhur ran back to his position shaking his head. Hakkı Onur Cebeci charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hakkı Onur Cebeci the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 40th match minute, Inebolu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hakkı Onur Cebeci to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute, Atabek Tekinay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Inebolu booed when Ankaragücü was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arkın Peykan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 43 minutes, Ali Nabi Torcan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inebolu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ali Nabi Torcan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arkın Peykan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Hakkı Onur Başeskioğlu made a huge save. Karadeniz Gazzali hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Erdi Tecik to strike the kick off in the second half. Inebolu's Hakkı Onur Başeskioğlu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erdi Tecik in the 58th minute of play. 60 minutes into the game, Batuğ İcmal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ankaragücü's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inebolu the free kick. Batuğ İcmal kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Ali Nabi Torcan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Ankaragücü's Erol Afşaroğlu got control of the ball when Ali Nabi Torcan tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Inebolu fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when Inebolu's Ali Nabi Torcan looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After having played for 74 minutes, Erdi Tecik managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ankaragücü's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erdi Tecik was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Hakkı Onur Cebeci kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Erol Afşaroğlu. That made the score 1-3 in the 76 minute of play. Battal Cüneyt Garipbaş took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Erol Afşaroğlu. Erol Afşaroğlu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Inebolu's Mehmet Fatih Cumhur got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 94 minutes into the game, when Atabek Tekinay put in a rough tackle. Atabek Tekinay hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see Ankaragücü's Aktuğ Cebe in action when he in the 96th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Inebolu's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
