Zühtü Hızlan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adnan İcabi's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. In the 6th minute, Hüseyin Rahmi Esenboğa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 13th match minute, Rumelikavagi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yaşar Nuri Tandoğdu to maneuver through the defense. Sebati Yaygır might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ahmet Turan Pakkan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sebati Yaygır ran back to his position shaking his head. Anıl Mücahit Canay recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Yaşar Nuri Tandoğdu kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Şenel Hüryaşar's late challenge caught a Kücükyali's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After having played for 44 minutes, Ergün Rızkullah managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kücükyali's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ergün Rızkullah was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 49 minutes into the match, Kücükyali's Anıl Mücahit Canay sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zühtü Hızlan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sebati Yaygır made a kick off. The supporters of Rumelikavagi booed when Kücükyali was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fadıl İlteber didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Kücükyali's goalkeeper Ahmet Turan Pakkan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ecevit Topçay. Ahmet Turan Pakkan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebati Yaygır in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 74th minute of the match Nurtekin Baybars sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zühtü Hızlan skillfully saved the ball. In the 76th match minute, Kücükyali was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ergün Rızkullah to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th match minute, Rumelikavagi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yaşar Nuri Tandoğdu to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Rumelikavagi defense, Ergün Rızkullah kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zühtü Hızlan. The Rumelikavagi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zühtü Hızlan should have stopped the shot. Yaşar Nuri Tandoğdu kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Zühtü Hızlan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ergün Rızkullah in the 90th minute of the match. Zühtü Hızlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anıl Mücahit Canay in the 95th minute of play.
