Mahmut Ak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Esat Özdoğal, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Esat Özdoğal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mahmut Ak having to interfere. Mahmut Ak was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Esat Özdoğal showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 43 minute of play. Bican Arıkan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Esat Özdoğal to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Cerkezköy's Fikret Rüşti got a free kick in the 68th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Cerkezköy's zone, Ali Çağrı Kaptan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mahmut Ak came out of the goal and Ali Çağrı Kaptan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. During the 75th minute of the match Fikret Rüşti completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Fikret Rüşti a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Istanbulspor booed when Cerkezköy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fikret Rüşti didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ali Çağrı Kaptan in the 76th minute of play forced Cerkezköy's goalkeeper Mahmut Ak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Istanbulspor fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0.
