The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cengelköy's Barışcan Sebati played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mehmet Ferit Fırat in the 22nd minute of play. Mehmet Ferit Fırat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barışcan Sebati having to interfere. Barışcan Sebati showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mehmet Ferit Fırat in the 27th minute of the match. When Menderes Vahdet came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Galatasaray JK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Menderes Vahdet couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Galatasaray JK booed when Cengelköy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Muzaffer Hikmet didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 30th minute of the match Muzaffer Hikmet completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Muzaffer Hikmet a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Galatasaray JK booed when Cengelköy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Muzaffer Hikmet didn't get a good kick on the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Menderes Vahdet had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Barışcan Sebati. Cengelköy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Menderes Vahdet was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 34 played minutes Galatasaray JK got a freekick which was hit by Abdulaziz Askeroğlu. A hard shot 36 in the game by Özcan Gökçek from a close distance when the talented Ümit Acun managed to make a qualified save. Galatasaray JK's players were relieved. Barışcan Sebati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Halit Otaran in the 38th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Menderes Vahdet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galatasaray JK's supporters rose to their feet, but Menderes Vahdet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barışcan Sebati breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Galatasaray JK's Ümit Acun proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Galatasaray JK from getting a goal against them. Özcan Gökçek struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Ümit Acun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cengelköy. After the first half Galatasaray JK were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mehmet Ferit Fırat made a kick off. If Menderes Vahdet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute, Abdulaziz Askeroğlu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Barışcan Sebati. The goal made the score 0-2. Barışcan Sebati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mehmet Ferit Fırat in the 72nd minute of play. Ümit Acun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Özcan Gökçek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Barışcan Sebati managed to avoid a goal in the 79thth minute, when Galatasaray JK's Menderes Vahdet fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Halit Otaran kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Menderes Vahdet got free with Barışcan Sebati in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Menderes Vahdet struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Barışcan Sebati didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galatasaray JK.
