When Hıdır İskandil fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bornova FK's protests and gave Hıdır İskandil a yellow card for diving instead. After 9 played minutes Bornova FK got a freekick which was hit by Hıdır İskandil. Şentürk Tekinel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Ulvi Kurhan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hakan Kutlughan might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ulvi Kurhan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hakan Kutlughan ran back to his position shaking his head. Aybar Baysan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Timur Aktar firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Altuğ Özal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Şentürk Tekinel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20thth minute of the game Hakan Kutlughan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bornova FK's Ulvi Kurhan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alsancak FK's Timur Aktar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Alsancak FK from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Şentürk Tekinel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alsancak FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Şentürk Tekinel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulvi Kurhan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 30th match minute, Alsancak FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paijo Wibowo to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Alsancak FK getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Rafal Rutkowski hit a great ball. After 39 minutes, Eser Sanih mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alsancak FK and the Bornova FK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Eser Sanih hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Çakabey Şamil was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 40th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Alsancak FK's Enes Okergun got a free kick in the 41st minute. If Altuğ Özal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Çakabey Şamil shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Altuğ Özal to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Aybar Baysan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bornova FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aybar Baysan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alsancak FK's Timur Aktar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aybar Baysan in the 56th minute of play. Şentürk Tekinel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Bornova FK's Ulvi Kurhan got control of the ball when Hakan Kutlughan tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 64 minutes of play, Alsancak FK's Enes Okergun made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ulvi Kurhan was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet as Alsancak FK's Hakan Kutlughan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ulvi Kurhan. That made the score 0-3 after 72 minutes of play. 80 minutes into the match, Alsancak FK's goal looked a bit too open when Hıdır İskandil came free, but Timur Aktar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 85 minutes into the game, Hakan Kutlughan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Ulvi Kurhan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Alsancak FK booed when Bornova FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hıdır İskandil didn't get a good kick on the ball.
