An unexpectedly hard shot by Mirkelam Güleç in the 35th minute of play forced Göztepe's goalkeeper Haldun Bayır to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ahmet Refik Kınık received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Haldun Bayır tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Göztepe's Bayındır Mehmet Nurbaki managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hıdır Gazel in the 44 minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Bayındır Mehmet Nurbaki put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Metehan Üngörmüş. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

VanSpor's supporters rose to their feet, but Bumin Altuner was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Haldun Bayır breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 70 minutes into the game, Mirkelam Güleç cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-2. Haldun Bayır was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. VanSpor fully deserved thier win.
