The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Soner Ortaç fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oğuzalp İnan having to interfere. Rahim Nasrullah struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Arif Oğuz Saruhan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Köycegiz. Erdal Baliç kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Köycegiz's zone, Mete Mutluay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oğuzalp İnan came out of the goal and Mete Mutluay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 17th minute, Köycegiz's Özen Garipoğlu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arif Oğuz Saruhan. Arif Oğuz Saruhan yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Rahim Nasrullah sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oğuzalp İnan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Soner Ortaç went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Köycegiz's goalkeeper Oğuzalp İnan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arif Oğuz Saruhan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aygün Selman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oğuzalp İnan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Soner Ortaç went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 40 minutes into the game, Mete Mutluay cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Oğuzalp İnan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 46th minute, Abdulhamit Çetinoz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Oğuzalp İnan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. After the first half Beşiktaş were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Mete Mutluay made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Köycegiz booed when Beşiktaş was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abdulhamit Çetinoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Mete Mutluay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes into the game, Erdal Baliç was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Beşiktaş's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Köycegiz the free kick. Erdal Baliç kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After 69 played minutes Köycegiz got a freekick which was hit by Özen Garipoğlu. Mete Mutluay could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Oğuzalp İnan made a huge save. Mete Mutluay scored 1-6 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oğuzalp İnan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Soner Ortaç in the 75th minute of play forced Köycegiz's goalkeeper Oğuzalp İnan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Beşiktaş's Aysan Kamber got a free kick in the 76th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Köycegiz's zone, Soner Ortaç stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oğuzalp İnan came out of the goal and Soner Ortaç tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Soner Ortaç could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Oğuzalp İnan made a huge save. Oğuzalp İnan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Soner Ortaç, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. If Soner Ortaç had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Beşiktaş's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
