The referee ignored Newells Old Boys's protests and gave Alptuğ Behram a yellow card for diving instead. With a little luck, Newells Old Boys's Yalçın Erensoy got control of the ball when Cihangir Çimen tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Newells Old Boys fans' excitement grew in the 22nd match minute when Newells Old Boys's Kenny N'Diaye looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Lokman Sağlamtürk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gökcan Sefa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lokman Sağlamtürk, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sakaryaspor's zone, Başaran Tuncay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gökcan Sefa came out of the goal and Başaran Tuncay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34th minute, Lokman Sağlamtürk got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gökcan Sefa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lokman Sağlamtürk in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Lokman Sağlamtürk made a precise shot to the right of Gökcan Sefa. Sakaryaspor's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Gökcan Sefa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lokman Sağlamtürk went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Başaran Tuncay in the 43rd minute of play forced Sakaryaspor's goalkeeper Gökcan Sefa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Sakaryaspor defense, Lokman Sağlamtürk kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gökcan Sefa. The Sakaryaspor fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gökcan Sefa should have stopped the shot. Başaran Tuncay blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gökcan Sefa having to make a save. Gökcan Sefa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lokman Sağlamtürk in the 48th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-7 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hurşit Baran to strike the kick off in the second half. Babür Hamurcu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Başaran Tuncay couldn't finish the play. In the last second Gökcan Sefa throw himself and got hold of the ball when Başaran Tuncay in the 74thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Okan Özpinar kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Gökcan Sefa was a little too slow when Kenny N'Diaye got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 76th minute. The score was now 0-10. 82 minutes into the game, Lokman Sağlamtürk recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gökcan Sefa. Lokman Sağlamtürk showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-11. 85 minutes into the game, Lokman Sağlamtürk lined in a short shot 0-12 behind a frustrated Gökcan Sefa. 89 minutes into the game, Lokman Sağlamtürk cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-13. Gökcan Sefa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lokman Sağlamtürk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gökcan Sefa having to interfere. Gökcan Sefa came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Newells Old Boys's Kenny N'Diaye. But to his dismay, Kenny N'Diaye quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-14. Newells Old Boys played a much better game than Sakaryaspor and deserved their victory. The Sakaryaspor players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
