The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Göktan Vefai ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cenk Talut was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Hasan Ali Önen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remzi Akçalı having to interfere. When Nusrettin Şahiner fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kurtuluşspor's protests and gave Nusrettin Şahiner a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Kurtuluşspor getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Nusrettin Şahiner hit a great ball. In the 18th minute, Abdullatif Dürüst hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Göktan Vefai got free with Cenk Talut in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cenk Talut took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nihat Siralp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ali Güralp Şirvan during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nusrettin Şahiner made a kick off.
